OUR PROGRAMS
Each program addresses a specific dimension of Flint's revitalizationfrom housing veterans to training workers to building community spaces.

Veteran Supportive Housing
FCRVHI plans to acquire and rehabilitate vacant properties in Flint, Michigan, to provide permanent supportive housing for veterans. Properties will be renovated to meet modern building codes and developed as individual housing units or small-scale group homes, based on program needs and community suitability.
Housing is provided together with comprehensive support services, including case management, mental health resources, and employment assistance. FCRVHI partners with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and local service providers to ensure Flint veterans receive integrated supports that promote housing stability, self-sufficiency, and long-term positive outcomes.

Property Revitalization
Flint faces a high concentration of vacant and blighted properties that negatively affect neighborhood stability and quality of life. Our Property Revitalization program systematically acquires distressed properties, removes structures not suitable for rehabilitation, and renovates viable homes for safe, productive reuse.
These activities reduce blight, improve neighborhood safety, and support long-term stabilization. The program is implemented in coordination with municipal agencies, land bank authorities, and community stakeholders to ensure resources are directed toward properties with the greatest potential for measurable and lasting impact.

Workforce Training and Economic Development
Our workforce training program integrates community redevelopment with structured, hands-on skill development for Flint residents and military veterans. Renovation and rehabilitation projects function as supervised training sites where participants receive instruction in construction trades, including framing, plumbing, electrical systems, and interior finishing.
Participants may be eligible to earn wages while contributing directly to neighborhood revitalization efforts. The program supports work readiness, credentialing, and skill development aligned with industry standards — addressing unemployment, supporting veteran reintegration, and expanding the skilled labor base needed to sustain Flint's long-term economic recovery.

Community Development Spaces
Not all vacant lots are best suited for housing. Many generate greater long-term community benefits as gardens, gathering spaces, or neighborhood resource centers. We work in close partnership with neighborhood associations to transform underused properties into durable, resident-driven assets that promote safety, connection, and neighborhood pride.
By using transparent and equitable funding processes, resources are directed toward projects with measurable, lasting impact — strengthening social cohesion, encouraging long-term stewardship, and supporting shared community ownership. This community-centered framing ensures investments align with resident priorities and increases funder confidence by demonstrating accountability and enduring outcomes beyond the grant period.
